Michał Wróbel honoured by the Special Award of the President of the Polish Patent Office

The achievements of our team in developing environmentally friendly asphalt mixtures have been recognized by the Polish Patent Office. In the XI edition of the National Student-Inventor Competition. Michał Wróbel received the Special Award of the President of the Polish Patent Office for a series of 6 inventions. All inventions are under the common title “Methods of production of ecological asphalts and mineral-asphalt mixtures”. The co-authors of the awarded solutions are Agnieszka Woszuk, Wojciech Franus, Szymon Malinowski and Lidia Bandura.

The essence of the inventions is the use of zeolites from fly ash and biopolymers make this environmentally friendly asphalt mixtures . The addition of such modifiers leads to the reduction of technological temperatures and, consequently, a decrease in CO2 emissions to the atmosphere. Moreover, it allows for the reuse of recycled asphalt pavements (RAP).
