We are pleased to announce that in the current edition of the OPUS-29 programme of the National Science Centre, we have obtained funding for another project of great importance to society. The project, led by Dr Paulina Kazimierczak (Consortium Leader, Medical University of Lublin) in collaboration with Lublin University of Technology as a partner (Jakub Matusiak, Rafał Panek, Wojciech Franus), will focus on developing an onco-gel containing a biopolymer and a complex of magnetite nanoparticles and clay for treating wounds after melanoma excision. This gel will accelerate skin regeneration, provide hydration, and prevent local melanoma recurrence as well as bacterial infections.
This is the fourth jointly implemented project of the consortium between the Medical University of Lublin and Lublin University of Technology, focusing on research at the intersection of biotechnology, chemistry, materials engineering, and biomedicine. The funds received so far from the NCN amount to nearly 11.5 million PLN (~2.7 mln EUR), which clearly indicates that groundbreaking scientific research is being conducted by the TE&RM LAB team led by Agata Przekora and by the MSAGroup under the direction of Wojciech Franus.
