A new SONATINA 10 project in MSA Group!
A new SONATINA 10 project in MSA Group!
We are pleased to announce that Dr Adrianna Kaczmarska-Król has been awarded funding under the SONATINA 10 call of the National Science Centre, Poland.
The project entitled “A platform for soft materials engineering: structure–property relationships in alginate–fucoidan–zeolite hybrid hydrogels” focuses on the development of a new type of hydrogel that may support tissue regeneration and the treatment of difficult-to-heal wounds, including chronic and infected wounds.
Hydrogels are soft, highly hydrated materials that can maintain a moist wound environment, protect the wound from external factors and act as drug carriers. However, their mechanical stability and the controlled release of active compounds remain important challenges. The key idea is to understand how the organization of the interface between the organic and mineral phases affects hydrogel structure, stability, mechanical properties and molecular transport.
The project also includes an international research fellowship at RMIT University in Melbourne, Australia, under the supervision of A/Prof. Aaron Elbourne. The stay will enable advanced biointerface studies, including the analysis of interactions between the developed hydrogels, cells and bacteria,
