Can asphalt be both more durable and environmentally friendly? Our latest publication
We are pleased to share our latest research published in Archives of Civil and Mechanical Engineering (IF = 4,9) entitled:
“PANI–CS polymer blend for durable RAP-containing asphalt mixtures with reduced environmental impact”
The study investigates a dual-functional polyaniline–chitosan (PANI:CS) polymer blend designed to improve the durability of bitumen while enabling a more sustainable approach to asphalt mixture production.
🔬 Key findings:
• improved resistance of bitumen to short- and long-term ageing
• successful incorporation of up to 30% RAP
• application of Warm Mix Asphalt (WMA) technology with a production temperature reduced by 20°C
• reduction in Global Warming Potential (GWP)
This research was funded by the Foundation for Polish Science, grant number FENG.02.07-IP.05-0122/23.The „ Preparation for implementation in the industrial production of ecological asphalt mixtures using foamed asphalt technology” project is carried out with in the Proof of Concept (PoC FENG) programme of the Foundation for Polish Science co-financed by the European Union under the European Funds for Smart Economy 2021-2027 (FENG).
