Szymon Malinowski got the financial support in MINIATURA 5

Szymon got the financial support within National Science Centre in MINIATURA 5 for his research (2021/05/X/ST8/00161). The research will concern the application of chitosan-based polymer composites for the modification of asphalt binders in a view to reduce their ageing process. Asphalt binders ageing causes a number of physico-chemical changes inside the binder structure leading to a loss of its original properties. Consequently, it is necessary to rebuilt and/or upgrade the pavement, which involves additional costs, use of materials and release of harmful gases into the environment. For this reason, a current trend in the road surfacing industry is the development of new additives to reduce the ageing process of asphalt binders. Total amount of financial support at MINIATURA 5 is 46 906 PLN and the project will be realized from 2021 to 2022.
